The International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture and Urbanism (INTBAU) Poland was created in 2008. As a nascent organization, its first mandate is to promote the general principles of INTBAU's Charter whilst encouraging conservation and the study and recognition of Traditional Architecture and Urbanism within a Polish context.
The Polish chapter aims to achieve this goal by drawing together all those with an interest in advancing the values associated with traditional design philosophies, sustainable urbanism, responsible community based architecture and conservation of the built environment.
It also seeks to reflect the importance of regionalist and local and vernacular traditions as well as Poland's diversity.
INTBAU Poland's objectives over the next few years are the following:
To support and network projects and actions in Poland that fulfill INTBAU's principles
To strengthen discussion concerning preservation and development of traditional and vernacular architecture and building trades in Poland (especially timber architecture and buildings from between the wars)
To strengthen discussion about national styles in the past and contemporary Polish architecture and urbanism
To revitalise traditional building trades and techniques in Poland
To develop international co-operation and to promote Polish heritage abroad
To strengthen discussion towards sustainable development, ecology and green architecture
INTBAU Poland seeks to influence the views of practitioners in the built environment, from architects, craftspeople, landscape architects, engineers and planners through to technicians, technologists and academics, educators, students, politicians, artists, cultural activists and a general public interested in considering the importance of a more holistic vision of our built environment.
We welcome enquiries from individuals and organizations interested in contributing to the network. To join as a free General Member of INTBAU please complete INTBAU’s online form at www.intbau.org/join.htm.
