In 2013 the National Trust started a successful run of Routemaster bus tours after working with the Arriva Heritage Fleet to restore RMC 1453, the first ever Routemaster coach, back to its original green livery. The National Trust partnered with some of London’s most interesting people, places and arts institutions, with tours that focus on history, architecture, and culture—offering original insight into what makes London so distinctive.
The new tour, arranged for Autumn 2015, organised by RIBA and the National Trust, will be led by RIBA curators and architectural experts and will let you get up close and personal with some of London’s most recent traditional and classical architectural developments.
The tour will begin and end at RIBA, meet outside 66 Portland Pl, W1B 1AD.
Palladian London: organised by RIBA
Discover London’s greatest and grandest Palladian landmarks with a special tour of the capital and learn how this architectural movement defined the 18th century city and left a rich legacy well beyond. Beginning with a visit to the Palladian Design exhibition at RIBA, the tour will depart from Portland Place and wind through the streets of Covent Garden where you can take in the beautiful external features of its famous architecture. You will then explore the Palladian splendour of Whitehall, St James Church and Royal Academy, finishing the tour on a high at the exquisite Chiswick House.
