INTBAU welcomes its new Chair and Deputy Chair of the Board of Trustees

We are pleased to announce two key leadership appointments on INTBAU’s Board of Trustees.

We are pleased to announce two key leadership appointments on INTBAU’s Board of Trustees.

Our dedicated Board members have elected a new Chair and Deputy Chair to continue supporting INTBAU, the INTBAU College of Chapters, and the Chapters’ Management Team in guiding the organisation forward into its bright future.

As an international organization, INTBAU’s leadership is comprised of the College of Chapters, Secretariat staff in London, and Trustees. Together, they collaborate to advance INTBAU’s mission. This leadership structure also gives INTBAU its global presence, which is made up of the many local actions of its Chapters and Members.

The appointments of a new Chair and Deputy Chair of the Board will support INTBAU’s commitment to creating humane and harmonious buildings and places that respect local traditions.

We are certain that the fresh perspectives and leadership of the newly elected Chair and Deputy Chair will enhance collaboration, invigorate INTBAU’s vision and strengthen its impact globally.

The new Chair and Deputy Chair of the Board have been elected by the group enriched recently with four new, international Trustees. The enhanced composition of the Board will allow for strengthened cooperation and involvement with the INTBAU College of Chapters, and its efforts to support INTBAU in fulfilling the principles of its Charter.

I believe that the appointment of Alireza as Chair and Mary Rose as Deputy Chair – two Trustees with such significant and complementary competencies – will do much to foster a growing and vibrant International Network.

– Tomasz Jeleński, Trustee, Chair of the INTBAU College of Chapters, Chair of INTBAU Poland

I am deeply honoured to have been elected Chair of INTBAU’s Board of Trustees.

Having been a member of INTBAU College of Traditional Practitioners for some 20 years and a Trustee since 2012, I have seen our organization become truly the only international platform for traditional architecture in all its varied and local manifestations. The recent appointment of four new international Trustees has extended our reach into new territories; and at the same time we have secured new funding and added to the core team of staff to strengthen the centre of our global network.

These changes have put us on a firm footing to grow, and I look forward to working with our Chapters to support their programmes and activities.

– Alireza Sagharchi RIBA FRSA, Principal, Stanhope Gate Architecture

“Joining INTBAU as a volunteer in 2020, I was drawn to its mission and the positive contributions I could make to the organization. I strongly believe in giving communities agency to navigate the modern world while preserving their identity. INTBAU’s commitment to respecting and innovating traditional building practices resonates with my values of empowering communities to have a say in their futures amidst global uncertainty.

INTBAU holds significant potential to make a transformative impact on people’s lives by fostering the creation of liveable, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environments. My vision for INTBAU is to enhance its influence in encouraging architects, crafts masters and built environment professionals to incorporate traditional aspects into their designs.

The organization’s global reach constantly pushes me out of my comfort zone, facilitating continuous growth and understanding of different contexts.”
