Perhaps now more than ever before, we are all aware of the built environment that surrounds us, and of the impacts it has on the health of individuals, communities, and the planet. The Architecture of Place series brings together the established and emerging voices working to create a better built future.
From December 2024 through February 2025, the ICAA, INTBAU, and The King’s Foundation will co-host The Architecture of Place: In Conversation with…, a series of interviews featuring three architects and scholars from different backgrounds and points of view: John Smylie, Tiffany Abernathy, and Dr. Patricia Canelas in December, and Minty Sainsbury, Safoura Zahedi, and Sara Bega in February. In each instalment, one of the three architects will be interviewed by one of the others about the influences, experiences, and projects that have led to their design perspective on the architecture of place. Sessions will close with a Q&A with the audience.
All programmes in this series are free, and the recordings will be available after each session.

Tuesday 4 February 2025: In Conversation with Minty Sainsbury
In this installment of the winter 2024-2025 Architecture of Place series, architectural artist Minty Sainsbury will be joined by architect and educator Sara Bega for an informal discussion of Sainsbury’s career and the role of architecture and sense of place in her artistic practice.
Minty Sainsbury is an artist living and working in London. Best known for her highly detailed and instantly recognizable stylized architectural pencil drawings, Minty balances her time working between bespoke commissions and her own drawing projects, and has recently finished an artistic residency in India.
Minty has exhibited in Glasgow in partnership with the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society, as well as at four solo exhibitions in Central London. Alongside solo shows she has exhibited in group exhibitions across the UK, Paris, and New York. This past year Minty was selected to exhibit at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition in London. She has an ever growing following on social media with more than 200,000 followers across her platforms.
Minty studied Architecture at the University of Cambridge where she was a scholar at Emmanuel College and graduated with a first class degree, winning a Royal Institute of British Architects student award. Minty went on to work for a year at the architecture firm Carmody Groarke in London before pursuing a full time career as an artist.
