Spanish organisation Terrachidia are working with the support of INTBAU Spain to provide two workshops to Southern Morocco. Both workshops will run at the same dates of 5th-16th October 2015.
The Earth Building and Architecture Workshop will focus on restoring the main fortified gate of the Talha Sorfa ksar at the M’Hamid Oasis, where participants will be able to learn the traditional building techniques directly from local masters and put these techniques into practice in the restoration of the architecture of these oasis. All contributing to the sustainable development of the region. At the same time, working on researching and promoting this heritage.

The other workshop that is taking place at the same time is the Craft Workshop, where you can learn the techniques of coiled basketry, carpet weaving and the local cuisine from local people. The main topic of the workshop is the palm tree and its influence on the life of the oasis.
One of the main objectives of the Craft Workshop is to give a practical, real and direct approach to the traditions of the M’Hamid Oasis, working together with local associations of the oasis, all contributing to the sustainable development of the region. Also to promote the local knowledge and cultural exchange by living and working along with the local population.
